Q: To Wig or Not to Wig?
A: So many people ask me about the wig. Or perhaps they are asking
about my lack of a wig. In any case - here are my thoughts:
Change is good. I have had long hair for awhile - now I'll
try no hair - then short hair, then long hair again - who knows.
It's just hair.
It's summertime and I think a wig would be crazy hot.
I spent most of the time in a hat anyway.
117 - the number of hours I will save in a year not having to do my hair
(based on an average of 45 minutes 3 times per week.)
182 - the number of hours I will save in a year not having to do a wig
(based on 30 minutes per day for a year.)
An intern walked into my exam room the other day and, with a shocked
look on his face, told me I was the first woman cancer patient he had
seen without a wig. I think that needs to change.
Basically I think I am more than just my hair - although I do hold a
patent on the flirtatious hair flip (I like to drop something, pick it
up and flip my hair back) and I think my hair looks great in a cowboy
hat. A wig is a good choice for others, it's just not my thing.
Q: You really don't have a wig?
A: Actually I do. I have a very cool long pink wig and another
long brown one that looks very much like my last hair cut (thanks Mary!)
Q: Did you donate your hair?
A: Currently my hair is in a bag in another bag at my apartment.
Yes - it will be donated to Locks of Love.
Q: Is your head hot? cold?
A: Heck yea! My head spends most of it's time either freezing or
sweating.
